Albury: a regional city at the edge of our range
Albury is the NSW half of Albury–Wodonga and the main centre of Albury City Council. The 2021 Census counted 53,677 people in the Albury urban centre and 56,093 across the council area. It's a regional hub with manufacturing and logistics.
NAF Electrical is based in Wagga Wagga, and Albury–Wodonga is towards the edge of where Nelson travels (about 150 km). It's a long trip, so the honest pitch is this: if you want Nelson for a particular job, or you've got enough work to justify the trip, he'll come.
How travel to Albury works
Travel is free close to Wagga and charged further out, and at about 128 km by road, Albury is well into the charged range. You don't have to work it out yourself: the online estimators calculate travel from your address, and any written quote shows it as its own line.
Travel is charged per visit, so grouping work is the way to make the trip sensible. Some examples that often make sense:
- an EV charger install plus the switchboard upgrade it needs
- test and tag for several businesses, booked in the same week
- a commercial maintenance list saved up and done in one visit
These are suggestions, not a regular Albury run.
Jobs worth the drive
EV chargers. NAF installs a charger you supply (install only, so you buy the charger yourself). A charger normally gets its own circuit with the right RCD: Type B, or Type A where the charger has built-in 6 mA DC fault detection. The price depends mainly on the cable run from the switchboard to the charger and whether the board needs work first. See EV charger installation, our guide to whether you need an EV charger switchboard upgrade, and the EV charger estimate.
Switchboard upgrades. Replacing a board brings RCD protection to every applicable circuit. Switchboard upgrades are priced by circuit count, and the online estimate gives you a figure first.
Commercial work. For shops, offices and workshops, Nelson does commercial maintenance, lighting and test and tag. The test and tag estimate prices a job by the number of items.
The network in Albury
Albury is on the Essential Energy network, the same as Wagga. Wodonga is on AusNet, a different network with different rules. For outages, fallen lines or a shock or tingle in Albury, call Essential Energy on 13 20 80, or 000 in an emergency.
On the way
Holbrook is about 76 km from Wagga, Culcairn about 78 km and Henty about 60 km. They're on the way south and closer, so travel is less.
Common questions
Does NAF Electrical work in Wodonga?
Not at this stage. Victorian work needs separate notification to Energy Safe Victoria and a Victorian Certificate of Electrical Safety, so we only advertise Albury and the NSW side.
Why use a Wagga electrician in Albury?
Mostly for a bigger job, or several jobs at once, where travel is a small part of the total. For a single small job, it may not stack up, and Nelson will tell you so.
How is an EV charger install in Albury priced?
NAF installs a charger you supply. The price depends on the cable run, whether the switchboard needs work, and travel from Wagga. The EV charger estimate works it out from your address, or call Nelson or send the job through for a written quote.
Is Albury on the same power network as Wagga?
Yes. Both are on Essential Energy. Wodonga, in Victoria, is on AusNet.
